I have been so blessed with a wonderful family.  With the traditional family I was raised in (both parents, all six siblings from two said parents living together), I feel that my perspective on life is a bit different than a lot of other people.  As a child I knew that dads went to work, moms stayed home with the kids, and Monday nights were family night.  I also grew up in a conservative area of Eastern Washington.
When I was 13, I moved to the Seattle area.  The ward we moved into was full of struggling people.  I had never known that so many people get divorced, that families have kids from different dads, or that many mothers work.  My eyes were truly opened.  I had so many questions for my parents at this point.
The World.  Such a decaying and degrading place.  What kind of questions will my kids be asking me about families?  How will I answer their questions?  I think the only possible answer at this point is to follow the guidelines in The Family: A Proclamation to the World.

I feel blessed and honored to be your Dad
